Surge Protection

A surge protector is a device designed to protect your electrical devices (TVs, computers, laptops, microwaves, stoves, refrigerators, and many other appliances) from voltage spikes. A voltage spike is often caused by lightning, which, in the lowcountry, is more common than not! If a bolt of lightning hits a power line, it can give many thousands, sometimes 100,000 or more volts, and that surge of volts can travel through each of your appliances, essentially frying them. Spikes can degrade wiring insulation and destroy electronic devices.

What does this mean for you?

For a very reasonable price, we can add surge protection to your electrical panel. In the case that there is a voltage spike, or "surge" to your panel, the surge protection blocks that spike from destroying your appliances.

This small upgrade can save homeowners thousands and thousands of dollars.
